Welcome to Mount Olympics!Over the Summer of 2021, apart from working on a Summer Engineering Internship, I took part in the Ohio State University Theme Park Design Competition in a team of four. We designed a themed zone inspired by the elements of Water and Air. At Mount Olympics, guests are invited to cheer on an entire Pantheon of gods and goddesses in their version of the Olympic games. The interactive land comprises a unique dueling coaster, a family dark ride attraction, as well as dining and merchandise opportunities.
I am incredibly proud of our team for winning this year's competition, which took into account creativity and feasibility of the design. |
Key Skills
Attraction/Zone PlanningI led our team in planning the overall layout of the themed zone - a multi-leveled arena that puts the E-ticket dueling coasters attraction at the center of the action.
I also planned and created detailed attraction layouts for both the dark ride and dueling coaster, to capture the placemaking of show scenes and ride track. |
Ride Vehicle DesignFor the Match-Day Madness interactive dark ride, I developed concepts for a chariot-themed vehicle that could accommodate large families to play together as a team. The models on the right also show how an accessible version of the vehicle can be adapted for guests in wheelchairs.
As for our coaster attraction, Race for the Skies: Zeus vs Poseidon, I ideated different vehicle designs inspired the Greek myths of Wax Wings and Pegasus. I ended up with a design that allows Zeus' guests to fly head-first with wings, and Poseidon's guests to straddle a steam-powered Pegasus to race for the skies. |
