Welcome to Hokusai’s Edo!I led a team of four as Project Manager to design an immersive themed zone, Hokusai’s Edo, inspired by the works of Japanese artist, Katsushika Hokusai. We created concepts for two E-ticket attractions, entertainment, dining and merchandise opportunities to cater to visitors of a theme park located in Helena, Montana.
Residing in different locations across the world posed a challenge to our team. With careful planning and remote collaboration, we were able to tackle it head-on. Our team placed 6th in the competition, which took into account creativity and feasibility of the design. |
Key Skills
Attraction Master PlanningFor our zone’s roller-coaster, FUJI: The 37th View, I created a detailed layout that captures the show scenes of the ride, as well as its thrilling twists and turns through the iconic Mount Fuji.
I planned and modeled the attraction layout and for our zone’s family-friendly dark ride attraction, Brainstorm!, in which guests travel into a wild dream. |
Ride Vehicle DesignA unique Japanese fishing boat-inspired trackless dark ride vehicle was the final design for Brainstorm! It comprises two passenger vehicles and two prop vehicles capable of ‘breaking apart’ during a climactic scene in the ride!
As for our Mount Fuji - themed roller-coaster, I ideated different vehicle designs inspired by Edo-period Japanese transportation. I ended up with a design that gives the illusion of passengers pulling a rickshaw in a plume of dust. |

Illustrations and Concept Art
I created illustrations that give a sense of experiencing the different Edo-period themed environs of our zone.
For each attraction, I contributed storyboard images that visually present important scenes and moments during the ride. |
